Chaneru 2.0.12 will not run

Postby j'me » Sun Oct 06, 2013 8:45 am

I installed the Chaneru 2.0 server, and added the Rev 2 Chaneru channel to my Roku. When I select Rev 2 on my Roku, the channel loads, and indicates the version, then finds all the devices on my network. At this point, it usually just drops back to my Roku home page. On a few occasions, I was able to move to a different device, but eventually, it always falls back to the Roku home page.

I have uninstalled the server and channel, and fallen back to V1.4b which has always worked.

It sounds like there is a device I'm not handling correctly. I just upload a TEST version - https://owner.roku.com/add/E2HVR
When this version is scanning for devices, it will display the URL of the device on the screen before the app tries to process it.
The display will last a minute but you can click the remote to dismiss it and go to the next one.
Try it a couple of times to determine the device location just before it fails and copy it down.
Then go to a browser and input the device location as a URL and send me the XML output that gets displayed.

I don't think it is the Chaneru server, so just add the TEST app and try it.
The thing about UPnP and DLNA, it could be anything on your network, even your smart refrigerator in the kitchen.

Thanks!

I have added the channel, and will test it later today. I'll let you know what I find. As I recall from my earlier attempts, the devices found consisted of one PS3 media server (I run for my PS3 player) and several Windows media servers from the computers on my local network.

I have just added the Chaneru Channel to my Roku 3.

It found my PS3 Media Server.

Seems to be working fine so far.

Have a library of 86 movies - Chaneru found all of them.

Did a test run of the Argo movie. Let it play for slightly over 2:30 minutes. Left the movie.

Came back into Chaneru - and it gave me the option to resume, start over, cancel and something else - do not remember.

Running the PS3 Media Server - release 1.81.0 on an Unbuntu (Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS) machine.
