New MAC server

Postby Jim » Thu Nov 18, 2010 11:24 pm

I need some kind souls to try the mac server. It is almost at the same functionality as the windows version.

The setup is just like windows, unzip it, execute it and click start.
It will create "My Roku" under your userid.

Go to - http://www.chaneru.com/Mac/Chaneru/ - download your flavor.
There are 3 SDK profiles to choose from: OSX 10.4, OSX 10.5 and OSX 10.6
Each profile has 3 platform types.
Chaneru-i386.zip
Chaneru-ppc.zip
Chaneru-x86_64.zip

Be aware this is the first trial !

The 10.4 platform did NOT work, so I removed it.

Upload another update. According to one user the ppc version now works correctly.

Thanks I was trying to get the web server running with the Abyss and couldn't get it up. This installed and while not perfect it shows up immediately on my Roku Chaneru channel. I am just not sure why it doesn't show my Movies from my iTunes Movie list although my music all appears there.

I am playing around with setting up a directory that goes directly to my copies on my HD as opposed to relying on the iTunes setup.

I posted the changes for the Chaneru web site to reflect the Mac/Windows server downloads.
The code "should" function the same for windows users.
I finally have common code for both so I can start on other features.

Hi Jim,

New user here :) Installed the app on my Mac 10.6.5 system and so far, so good :) I mainly use it to play video podcasts downloaded via Miro. (The files downloaded via iTunes seemed to be hit or miss for my first few minutes of testing) So far, the Miro files are more readily recognized by the Roku. The podcasts I am testing are listed on this post, if interested: http://friendfeed.com/istjgeek/eddd11f6 ... -roku-woot

The CNET and Tekzilla ones have played fine so far. Hope to watch more tonight.

Thanks for the great (Mac-compatible) product! Love how it saved my spot, even after Roku power down. Guess it had to do with the Mac app still running, but it was convenient when I switched rooms w/ the Roku.

Looking forward to purchasing after I complete testing! :)

Hi Jim,
I am a new Roku and Chaneru user and I really appreciate your application and channel. I found it very easy to get the server up and running, and have been able to access my video, audio and pictures. I will continue to run it through the paces, and I am still learning about Roku channels. Clearly yours is much easier to use than the other video channel, which I tried to get working but was unsuccessful. As was stated earlier, thanks for helping us Mac folks out, making our Roku more useful than an iTV.
I am using 10.6.5 on an iMac. I do not have much video on my mac but will do some "handreaking" with some DVDs to see how it they work --

Segmentation Violation

Postby fredfx » Fri Feb 04, 2011 1:08 pm

When I start Chaneru, it gets about 7/8 of the way through the status bar. And then I get a segmentation violation and the application closes. I'm assuming it has to be running for it to work.

I'm using Chaneru-i386
Hardware/Software Info
MacOS 10.6.6
Model Identifier: MacPro3,1
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 3.2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 2
Total Number Of Cores: 8
L2 Cache (per processor): 12 MB
Memory: 12 GB

Any ideas?

best,

What version are you on ?
I just posted a new version to Roku, 1.4 that has all the fixes that were in the beta.
If you are on 1.3, try and load the beta version.
It will be the same level that gets rolled out when Roku decides to post the update to users.
Make sure you get the server and the channel.

Could you send me a trace ? Go into the server's options and check trace. The file will be trace.txt in the "My Roku" folder.
How large is your iTunes library ?

Hi, Jim,

I just turned on Chaneru on the Roku and saw the notice about 1.4 being loaded. This brings up a question I forgot to ask before -- how do I know which version (i386, ppc, or x86-64) I should use? I have an Intel Macbook.
