Simple .nfo files crash Chaneru-2.0.12.0

Postby dfavor » Sat Dec 07, 2013 10:22 am

I have a short .nfo file I'm testing.

Whenever I name this as movie.nfo + hit asterisk on my Roku remote Chaneru crashes or more correctly acts as if the Home button was pushed.

I have trace + access logging turned on + nothing seems to show up in either.

No OSX console errors either.

The .nfo file I'm using contains...

<movie>
<title>The Family</title>
<year>2013</year>
<runtime>111</runtime>
<id>tt2404311</id>
<rating>7</rating>
<tagline>Tagline.</tagline>
<plot>Plot.</plot>
</movie>

Suggestions?

So I should just change <runtime> to <duration> and all should work?

Also, about <cover>, let me know the expected dimension of the image.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks.

Still crashing, with this stripped down .nfo file...

<movie>
<title>The Family</title>
<year>2013</year>
<duration>111</duration>
<rating>7</rating>
<plot>Plot.</plot>
</movie>

Please point me to the URL which describes the exact .nfo file format expected.

I'm missing something.

Sorry, I should have said to replace duration or runtime with "<mediainfo><duration>val</duration></mediainfo>"
Even if you don't have it, you need to define <mediainfo></mediainfo>

I'm checking for the tag <mediainfo> BUT it's not there, so crash.

Cover needs to have the full network path, http://192.168.1.1:12234/somefolder/image.jpg
I don't see how you can readily come up with that, so I need some code to tack on the IP address and port.

The image should have a 2/3 ratio, standard poster artwork about 200 x 300. The Roku will resize it to those dimensions.

Still crashing. Here's a new example of the exact file I'm generating now, with you mediainfo change...

<movie>
<title>The Croods</title>
<year>2013</year>
<mediainfo><duration>98</duration></mediainfo>
<id>tt0481499</id>
<rating>6.8</rating>
<tagline>Meet the first modern family.</tagline>
<plot>The Croods is a prehistoric comedy adventure that follows the world's first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Traveling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures -- and their outlook is changed forever.</plot>
<cover>http://removed.cloudfront.net/t/p/w300/removed.jpg</cover>
</movie>

I think what would be best is if you created a zip file of exactly what ThumbGen generates for a movie... say The Croods..

Then I can just make my software generated the exact same .nfo + other formats... I can even use ImageMagick to generate a movie sheet.

I'm generating all my data via https://api.themoviedb.org which also returns cover images... which is very handy...

I've debugged it down to the exact line causing the crash now.

<cover>foo.jpg</cover> is the culprit.

Doesn't matter what size image I use. Even 200x300 causes crashes.

I've placed the images I'm working with out on one of my servers.

I can send you the exact link I'm using... and... they're just .jpg images out on the net.

It should be <cover><name>val</name></cover>

That should make it stop crashing.
I'm GOING to add code so that the image address can be just the filename, "some image.jpg" and I'll tack on the path to where the info file is.
SO, you can have relative and absolute addresses.

Hum... I'll try this...

I notice you're using some non-standard format for .nfo files which appears to be the source of all these crashes.

Please create a zip file of the output of ThumbGen for some movie, say "The Croods" + add it to this ticket, so I can see exactly the format you expect.

Also, best to publish this somewhere on the Chaneru front page.

Just a thought.

BTW, using the <cover><name>val</name></cover> structure seems to work.

I'm able to auto generate .nfo files from either http://www.imdb.com/ or https://api.themoviedb.org
picking up cover art off either site. Sweet.

Still need you to publish the exact .nfo structure you're using, as it varies from all other published structures.

Thanks.
