Wake On Lan (WOL) - 2.0.16

You can configure Chaneru to send WOL “Magic Packets” to your PC / Mac to wake them up from sleeping. To do this you need the machine address (MAC) of your network cards and their IP addresses. Go to Chaneru’s Options and select “Wake On Lan” where you can configure the MAC and IP addresses for your computers. You may want to “GOOGLE” or check these links on how to set WOL up.

How To Find Your IP and MAC Addresses On Mac OS X:

When Chaneru starts, it will broadcast a WOL packet to each MAC address configured. When you click “Select” on an item, Chaneru will send a WOL packet to the IP address of that media server. If the IP address is not configured, a WOL packet is sent for each MAC address defined.

You can test your network setup by sending WOL packets from Chaneru’s Options for Wake On Lan.

1. The Chaneru server will keep a PC / Mac awake while viewing a movie by simulating a “shift” key stroke every 5 minutes.
2. WOL works with UDP ports 7 and 9. Chaneru only sends on UDP port 7.
3. Mac OS X has issues with WOL. Google “darkwake=0” for how to set it BUT I found that setting it to 10 fixed my wakeup problem.
4. Mac OS X also has two sleep mode, light and deep (dark). Activities like “smbd” will prevent deep sleep, so WOL won’t work.

Tested on Win 7 and Mac OS X with Wifi and Ethernet cards.
